Blogging for money. It sounded very attractive to me when I first heard the phrase. It had a certain ring to it, doing something I already enjoyed and perhaps making a profit from it. On a smaller scale it’s like landing your dream job, getting paid for something that doesn’t even feel like work.

But I was not to be mislead. After reading various guides on how to earn with blogging for money, I realised it wasn’t going to be a simple matter of writing one post a week and watching the cash roll in. Everything needs work and if something is worth doing, then it is of course worth doing right, just to get all clichéd on you.

Maybe I didn’t have the time to post twenty fresh blogs per day; after all the dogs needed walking, I needed to eat and not forget to watch Lost on TV. Mostly what was getting in the way would be my day job. My humble blog about World War II aircraft didn’t seem like the kind of thing that would entice a million hits per day allowing me to stay home and dedicate time to it. But at least it fell into some kind of niche market which could be exploited, and of course, just as importantly, it was something I was passionate about.

I decided to go and find a freelance writer to pen good search engine optimised content for me. The content is the most important thing which keeps the flow of traffic coming and coming back for more. But to augment that, I really want to start finding other ways of income to pay for my writer and make genuine profit. So advertising seemed like the best way to go. After reading some other blogs, (for where better is there to find information about blogging for money, than other blogs?) I discovered that there are companies out there who want to use your space to advertise their products. They will pay you for the little space of yours in order to promote their wares. This seemed viable, just a few discreet ad placements on my site would help me. The more I wanted to get in, the more flagrant displays of adverts I would need to prominence too.

Self promotion, advertising and good, original content. Maybe my aircraft will spread their wings and land me some healthy profit with blogging for money.
